Meet Tom Fisher
Tom's relationship with technology started early. In 1982, at just 10 years old, he got his first computer: a Texas Instruments TI-994/A. By today's standards it was tiny and underpowered, but it was enough to spark a fascination that never really went away.
That curiosity eventually turned into a career. Tom earned a degree in Computer Information Systems and went on to build deep real-world experience across the IT field, including 13 years working in insurance IT. Over time, one thing became clear: the most rewarding part of the job wasn't just the technology itself — it was helping people use it well.
In 2017, Tom founded The Tech Frood with a simple idea: businesses should have an IT partner they can trust to protect their systems as carefully as they support them. Not somebody who hides behind jargon or only shows up when something breaks, but a steady, capable partner who communicates clearly, solves problems, and helps technology support the business instead of slowing it down.
That's still the core of the company today. The Tech Frood works with businesses across Asheville and Western North Carolina to deliver managed IT support, cybersecurity, cloud services, networking, and practical day-to-day help — all grounded in security-first thinking, responsiveness, clarity, and follow-through.
