The client is a small retail shop with an older building on a busy commercial corridor. The client was having issues with WiFi when working outside the building. In addition, the client also owns an additional property adjacent to the main building which is used for extra storage and occasionally as workspace. The client wanted to have fast and stable WiFi in the 2nd location when being used.
The second building was too far from the main retail building to obtain a signal from their existing WiFi access point. The client was on a strict budget that would not allow running any type of cable from one location to the other.
We upgraded the client’s older, consumer grade router with a more robust business grade firewall and switch. Next, we added a new WiFi access point in the retail shop to provide complete indoor coverage as well as coverage to the areas needed outdoors. Finally, we installed equipment to create a point-to-point wireless bridge from the retail shop to the auxiliary building. By reusing the router we had just replaced in the retail shop of the auxiliary building we were able to stay within the client’s budget.
We worked within the client’s budget to obtain new networking gear that accomplished their goals. Not only were their immediate goals of improving and adding WiFi coverage met, but we also increased their overall network reliability and security.
The client is an insurance agency with multiple offices in the WNC area. In March of 2020 when COVID-19 just began wreaking havoc in the US, the client was concerned that either the virus itself or the government would cause their offices to close for an undetermined period of time.
Having already been a client of ours, the client had a good amount of technologies in place that would facilitate work from home for any of their employees. The single piece of technology that was lacking, and one we didn’t oversee, was their older analog telephone system.
We quickly began working with our VoIP partner on obtaining the proper equipment to replace their old analog phone system with a state of the art, cloud based, VoIP phone system at all of their locations. WiFi enabled telephones would be ready to go home with employees in a moments notice.
Within 10 days we had the entire new system installed, programmed, tested, and working. The need never arose to completely shutdown any of their offices, but over the course of the next year the technologies put in place did assist in facilitating work-from-home scenarios due to COVID-19. As an added benefit, and with zero upfront cost to the client, the new VoIP system ended up saving them $225 over their old service each month!
